Justice Nariman seeks Supreme Court intervention on SIR, flags voter exclusion

Former Supreme Court judge Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman has sought the apex court's immediate intervention in issues related to Special Intensive Revision (SIR), saying the country cannot have an Election Commission that malfunctions. Speaking at a memorial oration in Rajkot on September 27, he said 90 lakh voters were disenfranchised in the West Bengal election, 22 lakh filed appeals, and of one lakh appeals decided, 93 per cent went in favour of the voter. He called it a completely illegal knocking out of the citizen, with the right to vote in great peril.
