Tamil Nadu allocates ₹812 crore for Annan Seer scheme
The Tamil Nadu government on Monday issued an order allocating ₹812 crore in the first phase for the Annan Seer scheme, under which eligible brides will be given eight grams of gold and a silk saree. Women from families with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh are eligible. The order, issued by Pallavi Baldev, Secretary, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, said detailed guidelines would follow separately. Gold and sarees will be procured under the Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Act, 1996, with gold priced at the IBJA rate. Marriages on or after the order's date qualify; applications will be online.
