Mayawati reinstates Akash Anand as BSP national coordinator
BSP chief Mayawati on Monday reinstated her nephew Akash Anand as the party's national coordinator, days after he publicly apologised to her and sought another opportunity to work under her leadership. She said the decision was taken in the interest of the party and the Bahujan movement. It is the third time Anand has returned to a key role since his removal in 2024. On Tuesday, Mayawati said no separation would be needed now as his father-in-law Ashok Siddharth had retired from active politics. Party sources said his role could expand ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
