Retired district judge loses over Rs 1 crore in 'digital arrest' scam
A retired district judge in Hyderabad lost more than Rs 1 crore to a "digital arrest" scam, police said on Monday. Cyber criminals threatened the 69-year-old, a resident of Malkajgiri, about a week ago, claiming his mobile number was linked to women trafficking and other offences. He transferred over Rs 1 crore and, on realising he had been cheated, lodged a complaint three days ago. Police said victims typically get scared by such threats. An investigation is underway.
