Sensex ends 685 points higher; Nifty closes at 22,776
Indian benchmark indices extended gains for a second consecutive session. The BSE Sensex closed 685.34 points, or 0.95%, higher at 73,067.81, while the Nifty 50 settled at 22,776.10, up 220 points. Pharma, FMCG and Oil & Gas stocks led the advance. The Nifty Smallcap 100 rose 1.56% and the Nifty Midcap 100 1.08%, while India VIX settled 8.15% higher. Barring Nifty IT, PSU and Realty, all sectoral indices gained. Brent crude fell 1% to $99.20 a barrel.
