RBI to announce October policy decision at 10 am today
The Reserve Bank of India's Monetary Policy Committee will announce its October 2026 policy decision at 10 am on October 7, with Governor Sanjay Malhotra making the announcement. The repo rate has stayed unchanged at 5.25% through the last four reviews. Amid rising inflation, elevated crude prices and pressure on the rupee, most economists expect a 25 basis point hike to 5.50%, with some possibility of 50 bps. It would be the first hike since February 2023. Retail inflation rose to 4.82% in August. Malhotra will hold a press conference at 12 noon.
