Encroachments shrink Maddileru stream at Kadiri, no action taken
The Maddileru stream, running about five kilometres alongside Kadiri town, is shrinking due to encroachments. Behind the Shirdi Sai Baba temple in Vanivedhi, the stream has been filled with construction debris at four places, including over a municipal drinking-water borewell. Part of the Thippanamma canal has become a drain. An earlier survey by irrigation and revenue officials identified encroachments but no action followed. Heavy rain in 2020 submerged dozens of houses. AE Mahesh said a survey would be ordered and action taken.
