Supreme Court's two-year delay in CEC Act case examined
Petitions challenging the 2023 CEC Act have been pending in the Supreme Court since January 2024, a LiveLaw analysis notes. After the Court declined to stay Section 7, Gyanesh Kumar, Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi were appointed Election Commissioners while the case was sub judice. Between January 2025 and March 2026, the matter was listed on at least 10 dates before Justice Surya Kant's bench without effective hearing. On September 29 it was referred to a larger bench.
