Gondi-Koya language standardisation workshop begins at Bhadrachalam
A four-day workshop on standardisation of the Gondi-Koya language dictionary began at Bhadrachalam on Friday. Scheduled from October 2 to 5, it has drawn 120 participants from Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer B Rahul said languages and cultures of primitive tribes risk extinction due to lack of recognition and respect. MLA Dr Tellam Venkatrao recalled a Hyderabad workshop on July 7, 2014 seeking official recognition and a report submitted to the Central government in 2017.
