Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey activate mutual defense pact
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey triggered a mutual defense pact on Monday following repeated Houthi strikes on Saudi infrastructure. It is the first time the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, signed in August, has been invoked. A joint statement issued after an emergency meeting in Riyadh cited recent attacks on Mecca and Medina without naming the Houthis. Pakistan said it will not release deployment details, and Turkey's parliament has yet to ratify the pact.
