HMWSSB warns of cyber fraudsters posing as water board officials
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board on Monday warned consumers against cyber fraudsters posing as its representatives and contacting people over water bill updates, pending dues or disconnection threats. Managing director K Ashok Reddy said in an official release that consumers should not download links or APK files, install apps on request, or grant screen-sharing or remote-access permissions. They should never share OTPs, UPI PINs, card numbers, CVV codes or passwords, and must pay bills only through official channels. Suspicious transactions should be reported to banks and cybercrime authorities, with evidence preserved.
