BRS warns of agitation over Rs 5,240 crore power true-up charges
The BRS has demanded that the Telangana government immediately withdraw Rs 5,240 crore in true-up power charges to be collected from consumers from the November bill. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, former minister T Harish Rao said the party would launch an agitation if the decision was not reversed, and urged other opposition parties, including the Left, to join. He said a TGERC proposal for Rs 12,718 crore in true-up charges between 2016 and 2022 was rejected by then CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.
