Calcutta HC declines urgent hearing on TMC funds plea

Kolkata ·

The Calcutta High Court on Monday declined an urgent hearing on a plea by the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress seeking access to funds to clear pending employee salaries and office rent. Justice Saugata Bhattacharyya said the matter would be taken up in the normal course after the Puja vacation. TMC's counsel alleged a committee headed by retired Justice Subrata Talukdar had not permitted the release. The dispute stems from police action over alleged financial irregularities in three party bank accounts. On July 9, the court had directed release of funds through a special officer.
