Stock markets rebound; Sensex climbs 473 points
Benchmark indices closed higher on Monday as softer-than-expected U.S. jobs data reduced expectations of aggressive monetary tightening by the US Federal Reserve. The BSE Sensex rose 472.77 points, or 0.66%, to 72,382.47, after gaining as much as 722.23 points during the day. The NSE Nifty added 133.80 points, or 0.60%, to 22,555.75. ITC, Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank gained, while HCL Tech and Infosys lagged. Brent crude was at $102.4 a barrel.
