Mecca Pact activated; Pakistan, Turkiye send military aid to Saudi Arabia
The Mecca Pact has been activated amid attacks by Houthi rebels. Pakistan and Turkiye have begun moving troops, defence technology and weapons to support Saudi Arabia, with the decision taken at an emergency meeting in Riyadh on Monday, Pakistan's foreign ministry said. It is the first test of the joint defence pact signed in August. Fighting resumed in July. The Houthis announced capturing Turba town, and earlier Mokha port and the Bab el-Mandeb strait. Yemen's government launched the 'Dawn of Yemen' operation, with the coalition saying 100 combat aircraft are assisting Yemeni forces.
