SS tank bund breaches at Uravakonda, drinking water wasted
The bund of the second RWS SS tank at Nimbagallu in Uravakonda mandal of Anantapur district, with a capacity of 90 lakh litres, breached after midnight on Saturday. Water swept across farmland and flowed six to seven kilometres along streams, damaging a GBC bund and standing crops. Farmers said they had complained for two years that the bund was weak and leaking, but were ignored. RWS DEE Anjuman Shafreen said bush clearance and bund repairs would be taken up quickly.
