Rajaka community protests in Visakhapatnam seeking SC status
Members of the Rajaka community staged a protest at the Gandhi statue near the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation office on Monday, demanding inclusion in the Scheduled Castes list. Organised by the Andhra Pradesh Rajaka SC Sadhana Core Committee, protesters asked the government to fulfil pre-election promises made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The committee said Rajakas are in the SC list in 18 States and three Union Territories. Demands included a commission on SC inclusion, pension at 50, 250 units of free power and ₹250 crore annually for the Rajaka Federation. Core committee member K. Satyanarayana said around 500 people from the district took part.
